I would like to personally welcome the students in my class to the AELP 2013. As of Monday, July 1, 2013 we have six students in our class. Kohsuke, Julia, Rudolf, Andreana, Max, and Veronika introduced themselves through a fun classmate interview activity. They will be studying and working together on a number of assignments and projects in addition to preparing individual daily blog postings as part of their ongoing journal. I am really looking forward to teaching this class and I know they are capable of great things.
During our time together we will be exploring the English language through a variety of lessons, activities, and projects that will help us to increase our knowledge, understanding, and comprehension. This week the students will be preparing to introduce themselves to the New Hampton School community with a smorgasbord of games and other fun activities, such as a balloon toss, card tricks, and face painting as part of our "Carnival" theme. Students will also oversee advertising for the event. We are really excited to put together an awesome time for the campus's families this Thursday afternoon.
In the coming weeks, students have the opportunity to use language to build a portfolio of ideas and skills based on weekly themes throughout the camp. These themes crossover from our classroom to the students' weekly activities where they will be able to apply what they have learned to real life experiences, experiential learning at its finest.
Welcome again, AELP Class of 2013!
